The Heart of Virginia Foundation's Center for Integrated Arts Summer Programs 2009 Advanced registration is not required. All events are held at The Heart of Virginia Foundation's Center for Integrated Arts located on the Grandin Gardens campus: 1731 Grandin Road SW Roanoke, VA
Tuesday Nights 6:30-9pm: Slow Jam with Joanne McGowan Slow Jam is open to all, but geared toward less experienced folks. Those with more experience are welcome to share their knowledge. Jam is mostly bluegrass & traditional style music. Acoustic instruments: Guitar pickers, fiddlers, banjo & mandolin pickers, upright bass players... come on out to jam! BYO non-alcoholic beverage. No participation fees. Sessions are currently available every Tuesday.
Wednesday Nights 6-7pm: Theatre as a Healing Art with Vivian Gibbons Through the use of acting exercises and technique we will make our stories come to life. As a group and as individuals we will gain trust in one another and in ourselves. This will allow the release of parts of the self that would have otherwise remained hidden. The end goal is enhancing the ability to express ourselves more fully in daily life. No participation fees. Workshop is currently available every Wednesday.
Tuesdays 1-2pm: Dream Catchers and other Madalas with Polly Branch: Using natural materials, found objects and other art supplies we willweave dream catchers and find fun ways to share our dream stories, or other ideas in our art projects. $5 per class Available dates: July 14th through the end of August, 2009.
Tuesdays 3-4:30pm: Self Portraits and other Masks with Polly Branch: Polly will be working with individuals at Grandin Gardens and the Heart of Virginia to create personal portraits of their faces and totems. $10/class Available dates: July 14th - the end of August, 2009.
