Music for Mental Health, in Partnership
with the Wounded Warrior Project, would like to announce “The Wounded
Warrior American Hero’s Tour featuring Tommy Edwards’ All American Southern Rock
Review”. The mission of the tour is to raise Hero’s who sacrifice everything
to ensure our freedom. The band is fronted Tommy Edwards, the founder of the
Music for Mental Health and it’s parent 501(c) 3 non-profit organization The
Heart of Virginia Foundation Inc. Edwards created the Heart of Virginia in
the wake of the shootings at his alma mater, Virginia Tech that left 33 dead,
many more wounded, and a community in shattered, as a way to help the community
heal and to raise awareness for a need for better mental health education and
services, and by diminishing sigma to build bridges of understanding.
Tommy has enlisted the help of Southern Rocks God
of Thunder, Artimus Pyle of Ronnie Van Zant’s Rock ‘n Roll Hall of
Fame Lynard Skynard, on Drums and a rotating cast of some of the finest
southern rockers including members of the Greg Allman Band, Blackfoot,
the Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, and many more.
Edwards a former All- American halfback set both
school and NCAA records and led the nation in scoring for half the session as a
freshman at Virginia Tech. Tommy played two sessions at Va Tech and one session
at Boise State before Mental Illness derailed his life.
It was in art, poetry, and music where he
expressed his inner self where Tommy for inner Peace and began a long journey to
recovery. Tommy uses art and music to educate groups and communities about
Integrated Wellness and how Mental Health plays a pivotal role in General
Well-being.
The Wounded Warrior American Hero’s Tour
will conduct performances at VA hospitals, military bases, and at community
events across the United States.
