The Heart of Virginia Foundation mourns the loss of Roger O'Dell. Roger served as the Chairman of our Board of Directors and played a vital role in the development and growth of our foundation. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Roger's family and loved ones. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Mental illness is a treatable disease, yet in a society that tolerates prejudice and discrimination against persons living with mental illness, treatment is often not sought. The Heart of Virginia Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation formed in response to the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. The Heart of Virginia Foundation offers charitable and educational opportunities to promote emotional well-being through the arts and to fight the stigma of mental illness. Currently we operate within three major branches:
